Business Telephony Upgrades

Still running an in-house PBX?

It may be time to move/upgrade to a hosted or cloud-based VoIP solution. Hosted or cloud-based VoIP solutions work the same way in-house PBX solutions work EXCEPT you don’t need to worry about maintaining the in-house PBX hardware and software nor be locked into physical voice/data circuits. Many VoIP solutions can work over any reliable high-speed ISP. You don’t need to lock in with a specific carrier or provider.

The VoIP provider manages the backend hardware and software, updates/upgrades, backups and maintenance for the hosted or cloud-based VoIP solution. You will typically only need to manage the provisioning of services for users via an online admin dashboard and assign any physical handsets and softphones to those users. Some VoIP providers may even offer a white glove service for an additional cost.

If you don’t need physical handsets at all or perhaps need only a few physical handsets, there are some VoIP solutions that work primarily through desktop and mobile apps while still offering the option for physical handsets. For instance, Microsoft 365 Voice coupled with a Microsoft 365 plan which supports Microsoft Teams works primarily through the Microsoft Teams desktop and mobile apps but do offer the option of physical handsets which are compatible with the Microsoft 365 Voice/Teams solution.

Before moving forward, take the time to carefully survey and evaluate your business telephony needs to ensure any solution you choose aligns with your specific business needs.
