Backup Your QuickBooks Company Files
Regardless of whether you run QuickBooks locally, in a client/server environment or use QuickBooks with Hosting, you should perform your own routine backups of your QuickBooks company files.
In addition to using the QuickBooks built-in backup utility, we suggest you also backup the native company files. Sometimes when restoring QuickBooks company files from backups created using the backup utility, you may run into issues during the restore process (ex: the restore fails). Having a backup version of the native company files can be a lifesaver!
When backing up the native company files, be sure to also backup the images folder, if applicable, as it will contain any custom images (ex: logos) used in your QuickBooks templates (ex: invoice, statement).
If you are using Intuit QuickBooks with Hosting, you should have access to the data volume which contains your QuickBooks company files. If you are running Intuit QuickBooks Desktop Pro or QuickBooks Desktop Premier locally or QuickBooks Enterprise in a client/server environment, you should be able to easily find the location of your QuickBooks data folder containing the company files.
